Miscellaneous notes: Alex, a landscape gardener, was a son of Joseph Bridgewater and Susie Martin. Apparently a troublesome individual, he was nearly lynched by an angry mob in May 1935; almost 30 years later he was shot in the stomach and died in hospital the same day.
